Know History of the GUNNERS

Arsenal Football Club is an English professional football club based in Holloway, North London. The club was founded under the name Dial Square in 1886 by workers at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, and renamed Royal Arsenal shortly afterwards. After turning professional in 1891 the club changed its name once again, this time to Woolwich Arsenal. The club entered English football's premier knockout tournament, the FA Cup, for the first time in the 1889–90 season, and joined the Football League four years later. In 1913 the club relocated away from Woolwich to the new Arsenal Stadium in Highbury, and a year later shortened its name to Arsenal. The club's first team has competed in numerous nationally and internationally organised competitions, and all players who have played in 100 or more such matches are listed below.

David O'Leary holds the record for the greatest number of appearances for Arsenal. Between 1975 and 1993 the Irish defender played 722 times for the club.[6] As of 2009, seven other players have made more than 500 appearances for Arsenal, including four of the so-called "famous five" defenders of the 1990s,[7Tony Adams, Lee Dixon, David Seaman and Nigel Winterburn. The club's goalscoring record is held by Thierry Henry, who scored 226 goals in all competitions between 1999 and 2007. He surpassed the previous record of 185 goals, held by Ian Wright, in 2005, and became the first player to score 200 goals for Arsenal the following year.

Arsenal win over Porto

Hi all, this is all new experience for me as i doing BLOGGING for the first time. I chose sports as it is one of the things i love most . i will be blogging for diferent sports but football and cricket will remain priorities .

I choose the win over Porto by Arsenal to begin with as these days i am following football and the whole credit goes to this team .

To start with Arsenal lost to Porto 2-1 , thanks to mr Bendtner for missing 4 goals that would have scored by anybody playing in a local football league. It really underlined that the team was
missing Robin van persie . The finishing was awfull and the defeat was obvious . One more thing that was interesting was the decision by Arsene wenger not to substitute Bendtner despite his dismal performance .

Now when Porto came to The Emirates they were really in a good position to knock Arsenal off the UEFA champions league and march Forward . The game Began and unexpectedley what nobody hoped happened Bendtner scored and scored a hatrick . Everybody was playing exceptionaly well Nasri , Sagna and specially the back and the midfield . They Scored 5 and didnt let Porto to put a single one in their net .

The game was intriguing and exciting and on top of that Arsenal won and advanced to the next round . 5- 0 win should be enough to boost their confidence which will be needed very much in the quarter finals of the UEFA championship and of course the fans are praying for Ces Fabrigas to get fit and take the pitch for as long as possible .

This would be it from me today and will be back very soon till then C'ya .
